In this era of globalization, dialogues between different cultures are undoubtedly an important issue. With this in mind, TNMFA organizes the “Gazing into Free” exhibition in aim to present Serbian audiences the diversity and differences of Taiwan’s contemporary art. All of the outstanding Taiwanese artists featured at this exhibition reflect on the ever-changing world they live in using their own subjectivity and sensitivity. The topics dealt in their works include gender, urbanity, identity, body, self-consciousness, sentiment toward the land, and historical memory—the beating pulses of post-martial law Taiwan. These pulses not only grow on the local cultural soils, but have also created unique expressions and contents for Taiwan’s contemporary art. Art is the shared language of all men. We believe, through this exhibition, we will further facilitate cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Serbia.
