DURATION: 2014-01-17 ~ 2014-02-15
OPENING: 2014-01-17
VENUE: Hanart Cube

We are celebrating 30th ANNIVERSARY at the Hong Kong Arts Centre with HANART 100: IDIOSYNCRASIES, a non-commercial exhibition of 100 special artworks and an international symposium curated by myself and Gao Shiming of China Academy of Art. This is the first time I am presenting an exhibition for myself, and I hope you will visit Hong Kong Arts Centre between 18th January and 3rd February, and both Hanart TZ Gallery (at Pedder Building) and Hanart Square (in Kwai Chung) between 18th and 15th February. Opening is the evening of 17th January at HK Arts Centre, from 6:30 to 8pm. The symposium to be held at Hong Kong Art Centre on 16th and 17th January features 20 speakers. Please register ASAP with HK Arts Centre on http://www.hkaconlineregistration.com/event.php?lang=MQ==&en=MTQ2 . Limited seats. I heartily thank you for your support over the years, and am looking forward to welcoming you at the 30th anniversary events! “HANART 100: IDIOSYNCRASIES” is a curated selection of 100 significant artworks that range from early 20th century calligraphy to recent art. Its assemblage reflects a particular interpretation of Chinese art history of the 20th century to explore issues concerning the “Chinese contemporary”. A selection of TZ Chang`s curatorial projects with various partners will also be on display at Pedder Building. The symposium on 16th and 17th January features 20 speakers. Discussions will explore the <3 Art Worlds> existing simultaneously within the “Chinese contemporary”. These “3 art worlds” include the globalized capital world of contemporary art (which is often recognised as the only international platform), the world of Socialist art (usually characterized as already extinct), and the world of literati art (often structured as “tradition” of the past).

“HANART 100: IDIOSYNCRASIES” is curated by Chang Tsong-zung and Gao Shiming, and supported by researchers from the Institute of Contemporary Art and Social Thought (China Academy of Art).
