Contemporary ink art has emerged as one of the most significant and ubiquitous artistic trends in mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, and over the past decade has attracted increasing attention from the media and the international art community. Acclaimed as ‘the new Chinese art’, some of the world’s most prominent museums and galleries, including New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Saatchi Gallery in London, have staged major survey exhibitions of ink art. In a diverse range of 35 works by 14 artists, INK REMIX: Contemporary Art from mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong reveals the ongoing centrality of ink in contemporary Chinese art. Curated by renowned contemporary Chinese art scholar Dr Sophie McIntyre and presented in partnership with the Canberra Museum and Gallery, the exhibition includes video and installation works by high-profile artists including Charwei Tsai (蔡佳葳), Peng Hung-chih (彭泓智) and Qui Zhijie (邱志杰). The exhibition will be accompanied by a range of public programs. INK REMIX: Contemporary Art from mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong is a touring exhibition organised by Canberra Museum and Gallery.
