An unprecedented contemporary art exhibition coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Xinhai(辛亥)Revolution that gave birth to modern China in 1911. Contemporary Taiwanese artists are joined by artists from Mainland China and North America to provide differing critical viewpoints on life in modern China with a special focus on the political, social, and economic relationships between the Peoples Republic of China, Taiwan, and the United States. This exhibition is intended to provide a forum to enhance the public’s understanding of modern Chinese history and the complex interactions between Mainland China, Taiwan, and USA, as well as to raise awareness of how these and continual developments will affect US foreign relations. 前所未見為慶祝辛亥革命一百周年的當代藝術特展!透過參展的台灣、中國知名藝術家及北美新生代藝術家之作品,對辛亥革命以來的百年歷史與未來展望提供反思。 Looking Both Ways Contemporary Art Exhibition September 8-October 21, 2011 Venue 1: Eastern Michigan University`s University Gallery at the Student Center Venue 2: The University of Michigan North Campus Research Complex, Building 18 (NCRC, former Pfizer), co-sponsored by The University of Michigan NCRC and Confucius Institute Curator Lecture, co-sponsored by The University of Michigan Confucius Institute and NCRC 6:30-7:30 pm, September 8, 2011 at NCRC Auditorium Reception and Artist Lecture Reception: 4-7:30 pm, October 10, 2011 at EMU Student Center Ballroom Artist Lecture: 6-7:30 pm, October 10, 2011 at EMU Student Center Ballroom 9th Taiwanese Music Festival Listening Both Ways: Past & Future, co-sponsored by Michigan Taiwanese American Organization and EMU Art Department Concert: 7-9 pm, October 15, 2011 at EMU Student Center Auditorium Reception: 9-10 pm, October 15, 2011 at EMU Student Center Ballroom Organizers: Dr. Guey-Meei Yang, Associate Professor of Art Education, Eastern Michigan University Dr. Tom Suchan, Associate Professor of Art History, Eastern Michigan University Dr. Wen-Chien Cheng, Independent Scholar, Ann Arbor, Michigan Dr. Ching-Fang Lee, Associate Professor, National Changhua University of Education https://www.facebook.com/Looking-Both-Ways-118208211583186/
